Industry — 01

Healthcare and pharma

Filming in a healthcare facility is the most demanding production environment we work in. Operations do not stop for a crew, patients move through the frame, and part of the premises is off limits. It is also a sector where visuals decide trust more than anywhere else — sterile stock imagery reads as distant, a poorly handled reportage as undignified.

01

What the sector demands

  • Filming during full operation without interfering with patient care
  • Consents from patients and staff, and protecting sensitive data in frame
  • Rules on what may be claimed about medicines and supplements on screen
  • Recruitment, where video must show the real workplace, not a set
02

Operations set the schedule, not the script

The shooting plan is drawn up only after talking to the site’s management — when clinics are empty, when shifts change, which rooms are free that day. The script adapts to that, not the other way round.

In practice that means a small crew, quiet equipment and the ability to get a scene in one take. There often is no second one.

03

Consents are settled before the shoot

Before the crew arrives it is clear who may appear, where filming is not allowed, and how the areas being filmed that day are signposted. Patients should be informed in advance, not at the camera.

We review the material before delivery and drop shots showing anything that should not be visible — name badges, screens with records, paperwork on a desk.

04

Credibility over polish

In healthcare a reportage tone works better than a styled scene. A real nurse in a real clinic reads as more credible than an actor in a rented setting, even if the shot is a little less polished.

That shapes the choice of gear and lighting too — the goal is not to intrude, not to build a film set.
